Will and Elena met in May of 2021, when Elena was visiting a friend in San Francisco. Will happened to be living and working there at the time. They were both guests at the same potluck, where Will contributed an unusual dish: Chinese takeout.

Elena was initially not impressed. They chatted a bit as a group, but between the takeout and the fact that Will was still in his 20s (!!), Elena quickly wrote him off as a non-contender in the dating arena.

Months later, the mutual friend pointed out that he and Elena both liked museums and could practice their French together. Will had since moved to New York, and  they could actually spend time together in the same city. It sounded interesting in theory.

In reality, months went by without them ever meeting up again, mostly because Elena “had to walk her dog” in the evenings, and had retired from the NY dance scene.

Finally, in October of 2021, Will made one last attempt: a casual bike ride in Central Park. Elena figured, why not? It wasn’t a “date,” just a chance to get outside.

That so-called “non-date” turned out to be amazing. They laughed, whizzed around the park on electric bikes, and had one of those easy, endless conversations that just clicked.

Their first real date followed soon after, and depending on who you ask, sparks were flying by Halloween at Public Records. 

Shortly after that, they were inseparable. What started as a potluck encounter and a series of almosts turned into something easy, joyful, and real. They hope to one day become Costco Executive Members.
